Short story writing as a mechanism for contemporary dissemination allows for the entanglement of theory and artistic practice. This entanglement provides a space for dialogue to expand and contribute to a reciprocal exchange of stories and theoretical discourse. These short stories exercise an imaginative quality wherein reality can be evoked, as each story focuses on an individual plant being and the potential they embody as a being of the universe. The agency of the plant is acknowledged through written and visual exploration, relating these beings to potential sustainable futures, which seeks to disrupt an anthropocentric view of the world. Composting is the transference of energy from one matter to another, a practice crucial to ecological processes of the natural world. Growth and decay present the entanglement of plants and humans as all have a role in the manifestation of a sustainable future.
